It's been two weeks since the last City 6 Rankings, and sadly the season is winding down. There, there. Cheer up, that just means it's getting closer to tournament time. Well, for some teams at least. Here we go.
6. Penn (7-18)
Since the last set of rankings, the Quakers have gone 1-3. They were blown out by Harvard, beat Dartmouth, and then lost to Brown and Yale.
The Quakers were eliminated from postseason contention this weekend as well, as the Ivy League has no tournament. While they've won the same number of games as Temple, but in less attempts, the Quakers remain in sixth yet again due to strength of schedule, or lack thereof.
5. Temple (7-21)
Holy hell. It has been one rough year for the Temple Owls. I don't ever remember a season like this for the program. Since topping a ranked SMU squad just more than two weeks ago, the Owls have lost four straight.
The first three losses were against ranked opponents, but yesterday Temple fell to Houston at home. Cheer up Owls fans, only two more games remain in this miserable regular season, and I can't see them getting deep into the AAC Tournament, so your misery should end soon.
4. La Salle (14-14)
Since the last set of rankings, the Explorers have gone 2-2. Streaky would be a good word to describe this year's La Salle team. Missing the magic (Ramon Galloway) that the program had last season, the Explorers have done little to impress.
The only chance for La Salle will be to run the table in the A-10 Tournament, and I wish them the best of luck with that, as the conference has some pretty damn good teams.
3. Drexel (16-13)
Well Drexel, what is there to say. You could've won 27 games in the regular season (see 2011-12), and you would still need to win the CAA Tournament to go dancing.
The Dragons will next face Northeastern in the CAA quarterfinals. Drexel is coming off a two-point loss to the Huskies yesterday, but did defeat them in double overtime earlier in the season. Do or die time for Drexel.
2. Saint Joseph’s (21-7)
It's been one hell of a season on Hawk Hill, as Saint Joseph's has now amassed 21 victories. The team is currently on a six-game win streak, and barring a slipup in their final two regular season games, should find themselves receiving an at-large bid to the tournament.
This team has good chemistry, but they still remain second best in the city this season, as Villanova continues its dominance.
1. Villanova (26-3)
Villanova is having one hell of a season. They have 26 wins, and should finish the regular season 28-3 if they don't screw up in their two games.
The eighth-ranked Wildcats are number one in these rankings, and could make a deep run in the tournament with their depth and scoring ability.
