Drexel's defense took over today, as the Dragons went on to defeat the Golden Eagles by a score of 59-36. Damion Lee led all scorers with 22 points, and also added 3 rebounds and 2 assists for good measure.
Rodney Williams also had a solid game for the Dragons, with 12 points and 5 rebounds. With the loss of rebounder extraordinaire Dartaye Ruffin from last year's team, fans wondered who would step in and grab the missed shots. The Dragons have seemed to have found the answer, with sophomore Mohammed Bah and freshman Tyshawn Myles. Bah had 4 points and 9 rebounds, while Myles had 2 points and 10 rebounds.
For the Golden Eagles, forward Norville Carry led the way with 16 points and 6 rebounds. But the rest of the Golden Eagles struggled on offense. Southern Mississippi had 7 assists to go with their 11 turnovers.
The Dragons came into today and put out a terrific defensive effort. Drexel had 4 blocks in the game, with 2 coming from Tavon Allen. Allen also had 8 points and 3 assists as well. Guard Rashaan London had a good game, scoring 9 points and grabbing 3 rebounds.
