After seeing their four game win streak snapped against St. Joe's last Wednesday, Drexel was able to start a new winning streak Sunday afternoon, by defeating the Saint Francis Red Flash 59-49. The win improves the Dragons to 8-3 on the season, and keeps them undefeated at home with a 4-0 record at the John A. Daskalakis Center.
Senior guard Chris Fouch led the way with 15 points and seven rebounds. Senior guard Frantz Massenat was also a big contributor on offense, as he finished with 13 points and four rebounds. He struggled a bit from the field, going only 4-11, but the Saint Francis defense came to play today. Massenat sowed resiliency and kept trying to make plays happen, which is exactly what you want from one of your leaders. Forward Kazembe Abif gave the Dragons a terrific rebounding effort, leading all players with 11 total boards in the game. The Dragons did a great job reading the scouting report, as Saint Francis went into the game with a -7 rebounding margin. Rebounding was one of their biggest weaknesses, and Abif and the rest of the Dragons did a good job of exposing it.
Freshman Rodney Williams gave a great defensive effort for the Dragons, finishing with 3 blocked shots on the game. Williams also finished with 6 points, a great effort off the bench. The loss on Wednesday was a tough one for the Dragons, but they showed today that they've put it behind them and are ready to get back to winning again.
