The Explorers fell to UMass by a final score of 71-65, bringing La Salle's record to 8-7 on the year and 0-2 in Atlantic 10 play. Cleon Roberts led the Explorers in scoring with 17 points on 5-13 shooting, while UMass' Maxie Esho led all scorers with 19 points on 8-10 shooting. Roberts also went for 5 rebounds and 2 steals in his 34 minutes of play.
The Explorers brought the pressure on defense, but the Minutemen were just hitting their shot tonight, shooting 52% for the game and even going 6-13 from three point territory. La Salle themselves shot 39% from the field, going 2-10 from three point territory.
Both teams got a lot of open looks, but the Explorers weren't able to capitalize like the Minutemen did. Each team finished with pretty even rebound, assist, and turnover totals, but the shot conversion was the main difference in the game.
For the Explorers, Steve Zack finished with 16 points, 5 rebounds and 4 blocks in the contest. Jerrell Wright was able to clean up on the glass, finishing with 13 rebounds. However, he struggled mightily from the field, going just 1-12 for 5 points. Jordan Price also had his struggles from the field, going 5-14 for 12 points. Price also had 4 rebounds and 2 assists.
