The Explorers traveled to Madison Square Garden this afternoon as they faced off with the Stony Brook Seawolves. Despite first half struggles that saw them trail the Seawolves by 9 at the half, the Explorers finished strong, overcoming the early deficit and taking the game 65-57.
The game was close early, but Stony Brook would begin to put some distance between them and La Salle, leading by as much as 12 with the help of 51.9 percent shooting from the field in the first half. While the Seawolves were hot in the first half, the Explorers were ice cold, shooting just 26.7 percent from the field and going just 2 for 13 from beyond the arc.
Jameel Warney would lead Stony Brook with 11 in the first half, as they Seawolves went to the break with a 31-22 lead.
La Salle would emerge from the locker room looking like a different squad however, utilizing a 13-4 run to open the half to tie the game at 35 apiece. The Explorers dominate the second half with the help of Jerrell Wright, as La Salle stormed back from their first half deficit on the way to a 65-57 win.
Wright led all scorers in the game, as he scored 21 points to go along with 5 rebounds. Fellow big man Steve Zack would put up a double-double for the Explorers, with 11 points and 10 rebounds, as La Salle avoided falling below .500 on the season.
The win moves the Explorers to 5-4 on the season, as they prepare for a showdown with #14 Villanova on December 15.
