Tonight's game in Providence vs. the Brown Bears (creative right?) was neck and neck the whole way through, but the Quakers just couldn't hang on late and dropped tonight's contest 62-55. The Quakers would have moved into 3rd in the Ivy League with a win, but now sit at 5th with a 3-4 conference record.
Penn led the entirety of the second half, but Sean McGonagill stole the lead back for Brown with 3:58 left with his back-to-back 3 pointers. McGonagill had 15 points for a Brown, but their leading scorer was Cedric Kuakumensah with 18.
The 3 pointers killed Penn tonight, they shot an underwhelming 1-13 from 3 point range and for the second straight game doubled the amount of turnovers that Brown had 22-10.
While Darien Nelson-Henry had his usual 20 points and Tony Hicks chipped in with 16 points, bench support is an obvious problem for Penn. 11 players clocked minutes tonight, but 6 of them were held scoreless including starter Steve Rennard. 1 point from each of those guys would have made a world of difference.
Next weekend now becomes pretty important for Penn, 2 more back-to-back losses will all but knock them out of Ivy League contention. First place Harvard invades the Palestra Friday night followed by Dartmouth on Saturday.
