The Saint Joseph's Hawks traveled across the city to the famed Palestra tonight to take on the Penn Quakers in the second game of a doubleheader at the Cathedral of College Basketball today. The Hawks would shoot the lights out of the 87-year old arena on the evening, making it rain from beyond the arc, as they routed the Quakers 85-68.
After missing two games with back spasms, senior forward Ronald Roberts, Jr., returned for the Hawks, as did sophomore Isaiah Miles who missed three games with a concussion.

Roberts would waste no time getting back into the swing of things, opening the game with a dunk and making a layup shortly after to tie the game at 4 apiece. After a Halil Kanacevic layup gave the Hawks a 6-4 lead, the Quakers would tie the game again, but that would be the closest they would get for the rest of the game, as the Hawks began to dominate.
Behind hot shooting, Saint Joseph's would distance themselves from Penn, shooting 66.7 percent in the half, including 86.7 percent (13-15) from beyond the arc, as they went to the break leading 57-23. The Hawks received contributions from all over in the half thanks to great ball movement, which saw them rack up 16 assists on 20 baskets.
Langston Galloway led the charge for the Hawks in the first half, scoring 12 points while making 4 of 4 shots from beyond the arc. Chris Wilson would score 11 in the half and Halil Kanacevic would add 9 points and 13 rebounds, while Papa Ndao would go 3 of 3 from beyond the arc to add 9 points off the bench.
Penn struggled mightily in the half, making just 9 of 31 shots in the half and getting outrebounded 24-9, as they fell into a big hole early.
Saint Joseph's throttled things back in the second half, letting their reserves get some good minutes, but the Hawks had made their mark after a spectacular first half, as they went on to win by a final score of 85-68.
Langston Galloway led all scorers in the contest, as the senior guard finished with 20 points. Halil Kanacevic would finish a point shy of a triple-double, as the forward finished with 9 points, 12 assists and 15 rebounds. Chris Wilson and DeAndre Bembry would finish with 13 apiece and Ronald Roberts would score 10 in his return for the Hawks in the rout.
The Quakers were led in the loss by Tony Hicks, who finished with 15 points, while Steve Rennard scored 13.
The win was the 350th of Saint Joseph's coach Phil Martelli's career and improved the Hawks' record to 12-5 on the season. Saint Joseph's will be back in action Wednesday when they play host to Rhode Island.
The loss drops Penn to 3-11 in a dismal season for the Quakers. Penn will next face N.J.I.T. next Saturday.
