DeAndre' Bembry and Isaiah Miles scored 16 points apiece to lead five double-digit scorers for Saint Joseph's on Saturday, as the Hawks defeated Illinois State 79-65 to pick up their fourth straight win and improve to 8-2 on the season.
The Hawks would start off strong, taking an 18-7 lead behind six early points by Miles, but the Redbirds would respond with a 15-3 run to take a 22-21 lead.
It would be the Redbirds' only lead of the game, however, as Saint Joseph's recovered with a 24-4 run of their own over the final eight minutes of the half to head to the locker room with a 45-26 advantage.

The Hawks would continue their dominance in the second half, stretching their lead to as large as 32 with 7:56 remaining in the game. Illinois State would chip away at Saint Joseph's lead a bit over the final minutes, but not enough to provide a credible threat, as the Hawks picked up a 79-65 win.
Bembry would finish with an impressive all-around game, notching 16 points on 6-for-9 shooting from the field and a season-high 4-for-6 performance from beyond the arc to go along with nine rebounds and seven assists. Bembry would be joined by four other Hawks in double-figure scoring, as Miles added 16 points, Shavar Newkirk 13, James Demery 12 and Aaron Brown 11 in a balanced attack by Saint Joseph's.
Saint Joseph's will return to action on Tuesday in a matchup with Virginia Tech at the Barclays Center.
