It was a balanced attack for Villanova on offense, as four of their starters finished with double digit points en route to the win over Lehigh by a score of 77-66. Sophomore Austin Price of Lehigh finished with a game high 24 points on 10-17 shooting.
Junior Ryan Arcidiacono led the way for the Wildcats, finishing with 15 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists, and 3 steals. Arcidiacono was a key component in Villanova obtaining a number 2 seed in the NCAA Tournament last season, and he's off to a good start so far. His scrappy style on defense sets the tone for the Wildcats.
Senior JayVaughn Pinkston finished with 11 points on 4-9 shooting and also grabbed 7 rebounds. Senior Darrun Hilliard struggled a bit from the field, scoring 10 points on 4-18 shooting, but expect him to pick it up next game. These two are the leaders of this season's squad; Villanova will only go as far as these two take them.
Brampton, Ontario, Canada native Dylan Ennis scored a team high 19 points tonight for the Wildcats. Brother of Syracuse's freshman phenom Tyler Ennis, Dylan has made a name for himself these past couple of seasons. He and Arcidiacono can both be trusted to handle the ball and set up the offense.
With the overall talent on this team, the victory tonight wasn't much of a surprise. Some players had great games, while others struggled a bit. These next few games are mainly for getting everyone on the same page entering Big East play. They have the most talent of any Big East team, but the continuity they have from playing together for a couple of years is what makes them Big East favorites.
