The Eagles announced a slew of moves on Saturday to get down to the 53-player limit. Among those who were cut was kicker Alex Henery, a fourth round pick by the Eagles in the 2011 Draft.

Henery had been on the chopping block since last season, as his leg strength continually came under fire.

Taking Henery’s place as the Eagles’ kicker is Cody Parkey, an undrafted rookie out of Auburn who the Eagles acquired on August 20 in a trade with the Colts.

Get used to the black jerseys you saw the Eagles wearing for Friday night’s preseason game at the Patriots, because you may be seeing a lot more of them for the early portion of the season.

The Eagles will be wearing new Nike jerseys this season, choosing to upgrade to the Nike Elite 51 technology. As a result, the team will be forced to stick with their white and black jerseys for the early part of the season, as the midnight green jerseys won’t be ready since it is a custom color.

Riding a Cary Williams' interception early on to a 7-0 lead, the Eagles were unable to stop the Pats the rest of the way, as they lost by a final score of 42-35.  The offense took a huge step back for the Eagles, as they turned the ball over four times during the game; twice on the ground and twice through the air.  Knowing Belichick, he was probably behind the turnovers with his witchcraft and cheating ways, but nonetheless, the Eagles offense has to come more prepared for their next game.

NFL defenders beware.

It's finally here folks. After seven long months of first round exits, tanking for Canadian ballers, and not trading guys who contribute little to the team, Philadelphia's best professional team at the moment finally took the field Friday night in an exhibition match against the Chicago Bears. Although the Eagles did wind up with the loss, that's not what the preseason is about. These games are for Chip to see who makes the team, who will start, and who meshes well with others.

This morning, Eagles President Don Smolenski told the WIP Morning Show that the franchise has been in discussions with the league about a potential switch back to the Kelly green uniforms.

“We have talked about it and there are some rules with the NFL that provides some restrictions that we’re trying to work through, but that’s going to take some time,” Smolenski told WIP Morning Show. “It’s there, and it’s something that we do talk about, but until some things change at the NFL level it’s going to provide restrictions for us.”
