Kiko Alonso Injury Update
After injuring his knee in the home opener against Dallas on September 20th, team physicians were unsure of the severity of the injury. Some officials said that he would be back after a couple of weeks, while others were quick to rule him out for the season. The Eagles finally learned the fate of their newly acquired linebacker on Wednesday.
There are three truths that are guaranteed in life: death, taxes, and the Eagles signing and then releasing Julian Vandervelde every week. Vandervelde signed with the Eagles on October 14th of last season and stuck with the team until he was released on September 5th this year.
According to NFL.com's Ian Rapoport, the Eagles will place kicker Cody Parkey on Injured Reserve with a groin injury, ending his season, and will sign Caleb Sturgis to take his place.
Eagles Coach Chip Kelly confirmed on Monday that Parkey injured his leg Sunday during pregame warm-ups against the Jets.
Five Takeaways: Eagles v. Jets
Desperate for a win after starting the season 0-2 and having looked just terrible in the process, the Eagles escaped #Popeapalooza this weekend and headed to MetLife Stadium for a matchup with the Jets. The Birds looked like a different team in the first half, taking a 24-7 lead to the locker room at the half and holding on in the second half for a 24-17 win over the Jets.
While it's only three weeks into the season, it is safe to say this was a must-win for the Eagles if they have any hopes of making the playoffs. Luckily for the Eagles, not only did they pick up an important win, the Cowboys blew a game against the Falcons.
Let's take a look at just a few of the key takeaways from Sunday afternoon's win.
Where do I even start? It was a terrible showing for the Eagles, as they fall to 0-2 with today's loss to the Cowboys by a final score of 20-10. The defense looked decent, allowing just one offensive touchdown to Terrence Williams towards the end of the game, but the offense was putrid. After the showing they had this preseason, everyone was expecting huge things from the offense. But two games in, they look nothing like the high flying, fast moving offense of the preseason.
