Behind some extremely sloppy play, the Eagles fell to Andy Reid and the Chiefs in the walrus-man's first visit to the place he called home for fourteen years. To put things nicely, the Eagles looked like crap on their way to dropping to 1-2 on the season. Turnovers proved costly, as the Birds fell 26-16.
It didn't take long for the Eagles to dig themselves into a hole, as within the first five minutes of playing time, they found themselves trailing 10-0. An early field goal and an interception taken to the house by the Chiefs allowed Kansas City to build the early lead. Jason Avant would catch a 22-yard touchdown later in the first but a failed two-point conversion left the Eagles still down by four. Two field goals in the second allowed the Chiefs to extend their lead to 16-6 heading into the locker room as Eagles fans began to wonder where the offense went.
Alex Henery would do the only scoring by both teams in the third, as he hit a field goal to bring the Birds within a touchdown of the Chiefs. The Chiefs would respond early in the fourth with a touchdown to extend their lead. LeSean McCoy would run for a 41-yard touchdown to put the Eagles deficit back at one touchdown, but they wouldn't get any closer, falling in the end by a score of 26-16.
Turnovers proved costly in the contest, as the Eagles coughed up the ball five times to the Chiefs zero. The high-octane offense appeared to be running on fumes the entire night, as the Eagles sputtered to a 1-2 start.
