The Philadelphia Eagles beat the New York Giants 36-21 in their rivalry game on Sunday. The Eagles locked up the victory by pulling away in the fourth quarter behind some strong play by backup quarterback Nick Foles. Foles, who finished with almost 200 yards passing, threw two touchdown passes in the fourth to cement the win. He replaced the oft-injured Mike Vick who was taken out of the game in the first half due to a hamstring injury. Vick is going in for an MRI soon and according to Coach Kelly is still the starting quarterback if healthy.
The defense came up huge at the end of the game with three big interceptions from errant Eli Manning passes during the fourth quarter. The D gave up 21 points but still managed to get the job done against the struggling Giants. The Eagles get another struggling offense next week in the form of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, so hopefully this opportunistic play will continue.
The playmakers dazzled on the offensive side of the ball yet again. LeSean McCoy, DeSean Jackson and the rest of the skill position players did their job in a strong victory against a team looking to bounce back from recent woes. This victory is exactly the type of win that needs to become routine if the Eagles are looking towards the playoffs this season. They now sit in a tie for first place atop the NFC East with the Dallas Cowboys and have a chance to take the division in a down year for the NFC East.
Go Eagles!
