 | The Eagles trail the Cowboys 6-0 at the end of the first half at Lincoln Financial Field, but there are plenty of takeaways to discuss already in this game. Because no one likes reading long things, let's go through this in bullet format: |
- Both teams look terrible, but the Cowboys are the better (less bad) looking team through 30 minutes of play.
- The Cowboys strung together a 12-play, 79-yard drive on their third possession of the game, but the Eagles' defense came up huge, stopping the Cowboys on the one yard line on three consecutive plays to force Dallas to settle for a field goal.
- Kiko Alonso exited in the second quarter with a left knee injury and is done for the day. More on that here.
- The Eagles picked up just one first down the entire first half and it came on a penalty. Seriously.
- The Eagles' "three-headed monster" at running back managed a total of -3 yards in the first half on seven touches.
- The Eagles' entire offense picked up just 21 yards in the first half.
- The Eagles time of possession in the first half was just a measly 6:51 compares to 23:09 for the Cowboys.
- The Eagles' defense was solid in the first half, and came up huge on both of Dallas' big offensive threats, holding the Cowboys to a field goal on both drives, which made it inside the Eagles' 10 yard line.
There is plenty of room for improvement for both teams in the second half (obviously). The Eagles are very lucky to be down just 6-0, but the Cowboys haven't exactly done themselves too many favors either.
It's still anyone's game, just please for the love of god, let that anyone be the Eagles.
