Although active today, Michael Vick was unable to play, leaving the ball in the hands of Nick Foles for the day. Foles was impressive in the outing as the Eagles beat a downtrodden Buccaneers squad in the end by a score of 31 to 20 (just a field goal each away from my prediction of a 28-17 Eagles win, just saying).
Foles started the day off in impressive fashion, leading an 85-yard Eagles drive down the field and scoring on a 4-yard run. The offense looked promising to start, before cooling off slightly to finish the first leading 7 to 3.
The Bucs would take the lead in the second 10 to 7, before Foles led a 54-yard drive for another Eagles touchdown, this time on a DeSean Jackson 12-yard reception to regain the lead 14-10. The Bucs would respond with a touchdown of their own to head into the locker room at the half leading 17-14 .
It would be all Eagles in the second half, as they outscored Tampa Bay 17 to 3 in the half. The Birds regained the lead early in the third, as Foles connected with Riley Copper for a 47-yard receiving touchdown.
Tampa Bay closed within one in the fourth on a 27-yard field goal, but would get no closer as the Eagles took control. Foles hit Jackson for the receiver's second touchdown of the day, a 36-yard score. The Eagles would tack on a field goal for good measure to put the game out of reach and come away with a 31 to 20 victory.
The Eagles received a bit of help from sloppy play by the Bucs, who picked up eight penalties for 72 yards in the game.
The win puts the Eagles at 3-3 on the season and first place in the NFC East. With a Dallas loss tonight against Washington, the Eagles will be in sole possession of first place in the division heading into week 7. The Eagles will face the Cowboys next week at home, as they attempt to move above .500 for the first time since week 1.
