The 5-2 Philadelphia Eagles visit the 4-4 Houston Texans at 1 p.m. on Sunday, as they look to even their road record to 2-2 and keep pace with the Cowboys atop the NFC East.
The Eagles’ offensive line will face a huge test on Sunday at NRG Stadium in Texans’ defensive end J.J. Watt, but could receive a boost against the NFL sack leader since 2012 with the potential return of starting center Jason Kelce. The return of Kelce puts the Eagles’ offensive line almost at full strength (Evan Mathis remains out until at least week 10) and should provide a boost against a Texans squad that allows 379.6 yards per game.

While the Texans defense ranks 24th in the league in yards allowed, they allow just 20.8 points per game, eighth fewest in the league. Getting to the point, the Texans defense bends but doesn’t break and the Eagles’ offense will need to be on their game to come out on top in this one. The Eagles could catch a break, however, as Jadeveon Clowney and Brian Cushing could be out for the game.
The Eagles’ defense will also have their hands full in this one, as they are tasked with stopping the league’s second-leading rusher in Arian Foster. The Eagles’ front seven has been solid against the run, however, especially as of late.
If the Eagles can find a way to shut down Foster, they should be able to pull off a win on the road. While the Texans have solid wide receivers, including Andre Johnson, they enter the game 26th in the league in passing yards and have struggled to do much through the air.
The Eagles have the advantage on paper in this one, but they cannot afford to look past a decent Texans squad. If the chips fall into place Sunday afternoon, the Eagles could very well find themselves atop the NFC East standings. If they fail to show up, however, they could face a significant setback in their quest for second straight division title.
