I guess you can say that the Ravens needed (Balti)more points if they wanted to win tonight. Had that one saved up for a few weeks now. But really, the only thing more laughable than my attempt at humor was the Ravens starters. The Eagles came, they saw, and they conquered. The defense was a well-oiled machine, the offense was an even more well-oiled machine, and the special teams was a machine that was, you guessed it, well-oiled.
I'll start with the offense. Bradford played his first preseason series and looked great. He drove the ball 84 yards in 12 plays and finished the drive with a touchdown on a run with Ryan Mathews. The only thing he did wrong was get in Terrell Suggs' way. Just kidding, that was an incredibly dirty hit. Not really too surprised though. Suggs has been a pretty dirty player throughout his career. Dirty plays aside, Bradford looked great and seems ready for the regular season.
Sanchez looked a lot better than he did last week, throwing a lot more accurately. He finished 14-18 for 118 yards. He looked like not only a competent backup quarterback, he looked like a fringe starter (you know, for like the Browns or Texans, not a team with a good quarterback).
Barkley played next, and looked a little shaky out there. He was a little less accurate than last week, going 6-14 for 86 yards. Tebow threw last and went just 2-5 for 13 yards. The fight is still on for 3rd string QB, but reports have indicated that Tebow is in the lead for that spot. With just two preseason games remaining, Barkley really has to prove himself.
The first string defense was great for the Eagles, yet again. They picked off Flacco on both of his first two drives and shutout the Ravens offense, an offense that was a couple of plays from defeating the Patriots and advancing to the AFC Championship game last season. The Ravens couldn't get anything going on offense until the third stringers were in and the game was out of reach.
With just two preseason games left, the Eagles look fantastic out there. Obviously it's just the preseason, so take everything with a grain of salt, but I truly believe that this team can do great things this season. Just keep both of Bradford's legs attached to his body.
