Eagles vs. Panthers: Fantasy Perspective

Cam Newton 14/24 197 yards 2 TD (run, throw) 3 INT 1 sack 20 rush yd 14
Jonathan Stewart 24 carries, 125 yards 12
Mike Tolbert 3 carries, 16 yards, 1 rec, 2 yards, 2 vultured TD's 13.5
Greg Olsen 3-65-0 7.5
Ted Ginn 5-59-0 1 rush 43 yards 11.5

Sam Bradford 26/46 205 yards 0 TD 1 INT 5 sacks 3
Ryan Matthews 6-97-1 3 rec 24 yd 18.5
DeMarco Murray 18-65-0 2 rec 5 yd 7
Jordan Matthews 3-14-0 2.5

Despite throwing 3 interceptions, Cam Newton was able to salvage his fantasy day by throwing and running for a touchdown. His 14 points only placed him at the 11th best QB for the week though. Newton's floor remains high going forward due to his rush yards.

Jonathan Stewart strung together another nice performance, racking up 125 yards, but Stewart owners were undoubtedly tearing their hair out as they watched Mike Tolbert vulture 2 TD's that easily could have gone to Stewart. After having a 19.5 point week last week, due mainly to falling into the end zone twice, it was nice to see that Stewart still has the ability to gain yardage for his points, especially against a top rush defense like Philadelphia.

As per usual, Greg Olsen led the Panthers in receiving yards, but only with 65 on a lackluster 3 catches. Ted Ginn added 5 catches for 59 yards & a rush for 43. Olsen remains Carolina's only fantasy relevant receiving option.

After putting up double digit fantasy points in three straight games, Sam Bradford fell back to earth hard last night with a season-low 3 points. Carolina has one of the best defenses in the league and they proved it, sacking Bradford 5 times. Couple that with no TD's and 1 interception and that made for a very bad night for owners who were unfortunate enough to start Bradford.

The receiving game was a mess once again, with top-tier receiver Jordan Matthews also posting a season low 2.5 fantasy points, catching just 3 balls for 14 yards. Matthews is shaping up to be a huge bust this year, with his only TD so far coming in garbage time. Zach Ertz was the Eagles #1 receiver with 63 yards on 5 catches.

Ryan Mathews continues to give DeMarco Murray a run for his money as the best RB in Philly. Mathews posted a much better stat line of 97 yards & a TD vs. Murray's 65 yards and no TD's. Mathews also did that with just 6 carries, while Murray needed 18. Mathews 63-yard TD run was the bright spot of the game for the Eagles.

The Panthers will face the Colts next Monday night, while the Eagles will head into the bye week looking to improve on many aspects of their offense.
