Jakub Voracek tied things up later in the second with his 21st goal of the year and first even strength goal since December. Luke Schenn dumped the puck with the team already set up on offense. From there it was a failed puck battle between Chris VandeVelde and an Ottawa defender that saw the puck trickle into empty space. Voracek was closest to the puck and blasted it past Andrew Hammond, who was able to get a glove on it, but Voracek launched his shot with just too much momentum for the Ottawa goalie.
Ray Emery and Andrew Hammond had identical nights on the stat line, each of them saving 27 of 28 shots.
Every player missed their shootout goal except for south Jersey native Bobby Ryan, who scored via the five hole.
The Flyers are now 9 points back from Boston for the final wild card spot with just 11 games left to play. Tuesday they take to Vancouver to play the Canucks as the Canadian road trip continues.
