Chances are you turned this game off when it was 3-0 after two periods. I wouldn't blame you, but the Flyers proved once again tonight why they're such an entertaining team to watch. Sure you always get a few games like the one last week against Chicago, but for the most part this team is never officially out of a game.
The Flyers took a 4-1 lead into the final 10 minutes of the game, but couldn't hold it and allowed the Capitals to force overtime. Alex Ovechkin tied it up with 48 seconds left on a man advantage, which led to a shootout, always a thorn in the side for the Flyers.
If you're a fan of the song 'Chelsea Dagger' by the Fratellis, boy did you ever enjoy tonight's Flyers-Blackhawks game. Got to hear that beauty 8 times (the extra one came after they reviewed Handzus' goal). For the Flyers, it just wasn't their night. They dropped their third straight and we were all reminded of how good this Blackhawks team is.
If you were playing the Bobby Ryan drinking game, in which you drink every time Coatsey and the gang mention Bobby Ryan's hometown, you probably aren't awake to read this now. We'll see you in the morning. For the rest of you though, you're probably aware that the Flyers lost 5-4 in OT tonight.
Things were not looking too good for the Flyers tonight at the end of the 2nd period. The Red Wings were going to win this game, but the orange and black never got the message. Four third period goals, 2 by Sean Couturier, helped the Flyers beat Detroit in a game that NBC Sports was desperately trying to pitch as a rivalry game.
