I guess if you're a fan of moral victories (and despite being a Saint Joe's basketball fan I'm still not) you can at least take solace in the fact that the Flyers got the game to overtime tonight for at least 1 point. 1 point is all that was received though, as the Flyers faded down the stretch again.
The first two periods of this game were not memorable at all, so save that space in your brain for something else, like where you left your car keys or when your girlfriend's birthday is.
The game looked like it would go to OT tied 0-0 until Scott Hartnell scored his first goal of the season on the power play on redirection from Timonen. The Flyers only had to protect this 1-0 for 3:58 to lock up the W. Naturally, that wasn't happening.
After pulling G Justin Peters for the extra attacker, the Hurricanes evened it up on a Jordan Staal goal assisted by his brother Eric Staal. This led to OT where the Hurricanes eventually won on a breakaway goal from Manny Malhotra, who stripped the puck from Streit.
Mason saved 36 of 38 shots on the night, but ultimately the Hurricanes got the win, ending their 5 game losing streak. The Devils are next up at the Well Thursday night.
