It's here! It's finally here! Hockey season has arrived folks. The Flyers will open the 2013-14 season tonight against the Maple Leafs at the Wells Fargo Center. It will be the first real look at this season's Flyers squad as everyone looks to determine if they have made the moves necessary to become a Stanley Cup contender.
Offseason acquisitions Mark Streit and Vincent Lecavalier will make their highly anticipated debuts with the orange and black. Most importantly, Ilya Bryzgalov is gone! Yes we can all be happy to know that the nightmare of Bryzgalov in net has finally come to an end.
With Bryz gone, the starting goaltender will either be Ray Emery, who is coming off a 17-1-0 season with the Blackhawks and 1.94 goals-against average, or Steve Mason, the Flyers acquisition from Columbus late last season.
Toronto already opened their season with a win last night, with a 4-3 victory over Montreal, as former Flyer James van Riemsdyk scored his first goal of the year for the Leafs.
So hang on folks, tonight the puck drops for the Flyers, as hockey season begins in Philadelphia.
