Hey guys, it's Friday night so I'll keep this short. (Spoiler: I didn't keep that promise) The Flyers traveled up to Canada's version of a fly-over state, Manitoba, tonight to take on the Jets. Philadelphia could have made it 4 in a row, but gave up their lead late and eventually lost in an OT shootout. All things considered though, it was a very successful road trip. The Flyers took 5 of 6 possible points, including the 1 they got tonight that keeps them ahead of the Blue Jackets and out of the basement of the Metropolitan.
Dustin Byfuglien (if he spells his last name that way I might as well spell mine Lyeebouwe) scored first in the 6th minute of the game only to be answered by Scott Hartnell in the 7th. Wayne Simmonds notched a power play goal shortly after and sent the Flyers to the locker room at the first break with a 2-1 lead.
Nothing happened in the second period and if you switched over to Billy Madison on IFC nobody could blame you.
The Flyers looked like they would head back to Philly with the win, but Byfuglien (you know what I'm gonna help him out, for the rest of this article I'll spell his name right for him) scored his second power play goal of the night to tie it up 2-2. This is Bufflin's first 2 goal game since the Jets were still the Thrashers.
In OT the Flyers dominated time of possession and Coburn had some good opportunities to end it, but the shots just weren't placed right. Going into the shootout the Flyers were at a clear disadvantage. This was their first SO of the season and the Jets' 7th and they were 5-1 going into it.
The Flyers took it to 5 rounds, but ultimately Bryan Little scored the game winner. The Flyers now have a record of 7-10-2 and head home to take on Ottawa Tuesday.
