After an embarrassing defeat against the team from the nation's capital, the Flyers came to the Prudential Center with one goal on their mind: to not let up any goals. They executed that plan and scraped their way to a 1-0 victory over the Devils.
Brayden Schenn was able to get the puck past Brodeur in the first period and it turned out to be all that the Flyers defense needed to secure the win. Excellent defense and great goaltending from Emery proved to be the difference makers in this matchup. Coming off of a controversial night, Emery was mentally tough enough to put his Friday night actions aside and lead this Flyers squad to their fourth victory of the season.
After starting out 1-7, the Flyers have racked up 3 victories in their last 5 games and seem to be putting everything together for now. The Devils may be struggling this season as well, but every victory against a division opponent, especially a rival like New Jersey, will go a long way down the stretch and can prove to be a crucial moment when the playoffs get closer.
The Flyers take on the Carolina Hurricanes on Tuesday November 5th at 7:30, as they try and turn their season around. As the Sixers have been proving, no one can be written out of the playoffs yet, not this early in the season. Stay strong Flyers fans, stay strong.
