The Flyers rookies took on the Capitals rookies today down in Arlington, VA. The young guns prevailed over new divisional foe Washington, 1-0. Yes, this may not mean much, as it was basically the Phantoms playing the Bears, but it's good to see the rookies wetting their feet and always good to see a Washington team lose (like the Redskins currently are).
I'm not even going to pretend I was there, but the word is that Morin looked good on the ice, made smart plays, broke up offensive chances and was a strong physical presence that the Flyers always look for.
Top goalie prospect, Anthony Stolarz, played the first half of the game and Carsen Chubak completed the shutout.
Taylor Leier, who just signed his contract today, scored the game's only goal.
Four fights occurred so credit goes out to Scott Laughton, Derek Mathers, Tyrell Goulbourne and Matt Mangene for defending the orange and black.
Training camp starts on Thursday now and we are 24 days away from the season opener October 2.
