The Flyers will be heading into the Christmas holiday 1 game over .500 with a solid win over the Minnesota Wild. Wayne Simmonds led the Flyers with 2 goals and an assist on the night.
The Flyers struck in the first 2 minutes of the game on a Luke Schenn goal, which came from a Scott Hartnell assist, his 500th career point. Later in the first, Simmonds waited patiently to the left of the goal and was rewarded with a cross-ice feeder pass which he promptly put in an open net. The Wild's lone goal came from Mikael Granlund during a 5-on-3 power play in the 16th minute of the first.
Giroux added his 10th goal of the season in the second period and Simmonds scored his 10th of the year as well in the third.
This win was an excellent way to kick off the holidays. The Flyers home win streak extended to 9games with the win. They are now off until Saturday when they travel to Edmonton to take on the Oilers, current home of Ilya Bryzgalov.
