A somewhat unlikely candidate would play hero for the Flyers this afternoon, as Mark Streit scored with 2:50 seconds remaining in overtime to give the Flyers the 4-3 win and third place in the  Metropolitan Division.

The Penguins would find the back of the net just minutes into the game to take an early lead at home. The Flyers would respond before the period was up however, as  Jakub Voracek scored on the power-play with 2:51 left in the period

Voracek would find the net again in the second to put the Flyers ahead, but Pittsburgh would not be done.

After sustaining an upper-body injury from Jayson Menga running into him toward the end of the second, Steve Mason would not return for the third period.

James Neal would beat Ray Emery to tie the game at two early in the third, but Claude Giroux would give the Flyers the lead back with just more than a minute left. The Flyers would be unable to maintain the lead yet again, as Kris Letang scored with 37 second remaining to force overtime.

That's where Streit would step up. Just more than two minutes into the extra period, the defenseman would find the net for his 10th goal of the season, giving the Flyers the win.

The win locked up third place in the Metropolitan Division for the Flyers, and sealed a first round playoff matchup with the New York Ranges.

The Flyers will close their regular season Sunday at home against the Hurricanes.
