Kimmo Timonen has been diagnosed with blood clots in both lungs and in his right leg. The 39-year-old Flyers' defenseman is currently undergoing treatment in his native Finland, according to Flyers GM Ron Hextall.
Timonen re-signed with the Flyers following a season in which he averaged more than 20 minutes of ice time per game and figured to be a key cog in the Flyer's defense yet again.

With the blood clots, however, Timonen's status is currently up in the air, as the team said his return to play has yet to be determined in a statement released Tuesday.
The Flyers play their first regular season game October 8 in Boston.
We wish Timonen a speedy recovery and hope he is back soon.
