Steve Mason posted a shutout tonight on 35 saves. The Flyers still lost though, in a shootout that saw T.J. Oshie and Vladimir Tarasenko score for the Blues but no one score for the Flyers. Mason now has 3 shutouts this season, 2 of them being losses. The harsh words he had about the team's effort after Tuesday's loss rang true again tonight. Mason moved mountains to give the Flyers a chance for a much needed win, but received no offensive support in a 1-0 shootout loss.
Not too much to say about this game, really just wanted to break out the blues pun in the title.
Voracek and Simmonds were the 2 Flyers to come up empty handed in the shootout.
To make matters worse tonight, the Boston Bruins won. Despite earning 1 point tonight this still plummets the Flyers to 10 points behind for the final wild card slot with 14 games left to play.
The Flyers will play at home against Detroit on Saturday, then leave Sunday for a four game tour of Canada that will see them take on the Senators, Canucks, Flames and Oilers.
