The Flyers bounced back nicely today from Thursday's loss to the Ducks, especially Steve Mason, who posted his 2nd shutout in 3 games. 35 saves was the magic number and thanks to Giroux and Simmonds the Flyers blanked the Los Angeles Kings 2-0.
Wayne Simmonds put the Flyers up 1-0 in the first period after a Kings turnover in their defensive zone. Faced with a wide open net after Jonathan quick over played Vinny Lecavalier, Simmonds received the pass and hammered it home. The goal was Simmond's 100th for his career.
Claude Giroux added a goal for good measure in the final 2 minutes of the game on the power play.
Note: Kimmo Timonen sat this one out due to a lower body injury.
The Flyers needed this one, given that no one really expected them to get even 1 point on this California trip. The win puts them back in 3rd in the Metropolitan approaching the Olympic Break. We've got more late night Flyers action coming up on Monday when they take on the San Jose Sharks at 10:30 pm.
