There was a lot of positive contributions from almost every Flyers player tonight, the biggest of which may have been the 24 shots that Steve Mason turned away tonight. This marks Mason's first shutout of the season and 20th of his career. Tonight may have been the one night though, where Mason didn't really need to shut the opposition out, thanks to 5 goals from the offense. This is now 9 goals in 2 games for the Flyers who seem to be piecing things together.
The Flyers started their string of goals late in the first on a Matt Read wrap-around from behind the net.
The second period belonged to Voracek, who scored both his goals during. Claude Giroux assisted both, adding to his team lead in assists. (9 now...hopefully breaking him out his tie for 86th in the NHL) We should also mention that these assist put Claude past 300 career points. Congrats, Claude. Grow a sweet mustache, you've earned it.
Vinny Lecavalier scored his 7th of the year, and Brayden Schenn his 4th in the third, adding insult to injury. Speaking of injury, Lecavalier and Downie remind me of dogs with those cones on their head skating around out there with full face masks.
Chris Neil was the only Senator close to scoring, but his goal late in the third period was called back on an obvious high stick.
The Flyers try to make it 3 in a row tomorrow night when they play at their second home rink, the Consol Energy Center in Pittsburgh.
