76ers Defeated in Detroit

The 76ers challenged the Pistons in Detroit Saturday night in their 3rd match-up of the season. Detroit, led by their big men, was able to beat Philadelphia in their first two meetings and would once again overwhelm the Sixers. Without their star rookie, the Sixers (15-33) lost 113-96.
Shortly before tip-off, it was announced that Michael Carter-Williams would sit out with a sore shoulder. Coach Brown stated he is officially day-to-day. Tony Wroten started at point guard in his place.

Detroit jumped ahead towards the end of the 1st quarter, led by Greg Monroe and Andre Drummond who hit a combined 9 for 9 from the field in the period. The Sixers trailed 32-22 after the opening quarter but would cut it to 8 by halftime. Elliot Williams provided 15 points off the bench, as he was forced to be a larger part of the rotation with MCW out. 

Any hopes of a Philadelphia was squashed early in the 3rd as the Pistons put together a 16-2 run. The Sixers fell into a 23 point hole at the end of the quarter. The 76ers outscored Detroit 26-20 in the final quarter but the game had already been decided. Philly lost 113-96. 

Tony Wroten led the 76ers with 18 points and also contributed 5 assists, but turned the ball over 6 times. The Sixers committed 19 team turnovers and only recorded 17 team assists. Thad Young swiped 5 steals to go with his 14 points and 4 rebounds. ET scored 15 points and grabbed 4 rebounds and added 4 assists. Hawes struggled against Detroit's big men, scoring only 4 points, but secured 8 boards. The 76ers were beat on the boards. The Pistons out-rebounded Philly 58-44, and added a whopping 23 offensive boards for second-chance points. 

Drummond scored 22 points, collected 14 rebounds, and blocked 5 shots for the Pistons. Monroe added 21 points, 12 boards, and 4 steals. Brandon Jennings and Kyle Singler each contributed 20 points while Singler also recorded 10 rebounds off the bench. 

The Sixers will play the Nets (20-25) in Brooklyn on Monday night.
