76ers Destroyed By Johnson & Nets, 130-94.

The Sixers took the short trip to Brooklyn to matchup with the Nets Monday night, looking for their first road win in over a month and a half. Once again without Carter-Williams, the Sixers struggled on defense and let the game get away in the 2nd half. The Sixers struggles would continue on the road, getting blown out for the second straight game, 130-94.
The Nets were able to get off to great start against Philadelphia, as each of their 5 starters scored by the 8:53 mark in the 1st. Within the first 5 minutes, the Sixers found themselves down by double-digits as part of an early 16-4 run by Brooklyn. The Sixers always come out with energy on defense, but they don't play smart as they almost always over-commit and over-rotate so the opposing team can find open shots as long as they move the ball enough. The Nets connected on 6 three pointers in the opening period as Philly ended the first quarter down 32-22. The Sixers hole only got deeper in the 2nd quarter but they finished out the half nicely on an 8-0 run. Philadelphia went into the half down 58-48. The Sixers only committed 7 turnovers in the first half and shot only 42.6%, while Brooklyn hit 51% of their shots.

For the second game in a row, the Sixers allowed their opponent to run away with the lead in the second half. The Nets continued to knock down threes led by Joe Johnson's 10. Brooklyn scored a ridiculous 42 points in the 3rd quarter, outscoring Philadelphia by 17. Johnson scored 29 points in the quarter, more than the 25 points the Sixers scored as a team. The game was already decided by the start of the 4th quarter but the Sixers still managed to be outplayed. The Sixers would lose their seventh straight, falling to the Nets 130-94. Philly's defense continues to be the league-worst, allowing 139 and 130 points in the past two games.

The Sixers struggled with their shot, hitting only 41% and hit only 12 of 20 free throws. On the other hand, the Nets found and took the shots they wanted, making a stunning 60% of shots from the floor and an incredible 60% from long range. The Nets made 21 three pointers, matching the amount the Blazers hit in their rout of the Sixers on Saturday. Brooklyn also won the battle on the boards 42-39. The Sixers did outscore their opponent once again in the paint 50-32 and managed 23 points in transition. The 76ers did hit 8 threes, but it took 30 attempts.

James Anderson once again excelled in his reserve role, leading the Sixers with 17 points. Thad Young added 14 points and 4 rebounds but had a shocking +/- of -40 when on the floor. Wroten finished with 13 points and had a sloppy 6 turnovers with only 3 assists. Hawes scored only 2 points and took only 5 shots but grabbed 7 rebounds. Evan Turner ended with only 9 points (3-11 FG) and secured 5 boards and added 5 assists.

Joe Johnson had a great game, finishing with 37 points, off 10 3's, 7 rebounds, and 5 assists. Deron Williams scored 13 and contributed 13 assists as well. Brooklyn's bench also played well, as Blatche scored 20 and Pierce added 14 points.

The Sixers, now a lowly 7-19, have a few days off before facing the Nets again, this time at home, on Friday night. We can only hope Brett Brown prepares his team enough to not get blown out for a 3rd straight game.
