The Sixers traveled to Atlanta to face off against the Hawks Friday night. Coming off a big win in OT against Houston, the Sixers hoped to string two in a row. Philadelphia would be without Carter-Williams for the second straight game. The Sixers fell to Atlanta 113-103.
The Sixers fell behind to start the game after two made shots by Al Horford. The Hawks held the lead for the first quarter with good play from Horford and Jeff Teague. The former Sixer, Lou Williams, played in his first game back from injury for Atlanta. The Sixers outplayed the Hawks in the second quarter, outscoring them 39-29 with Thad Young leading the way. The 76ers took a 56-54 into the half.
Philadelphia got off to another slow start in the third and allowed the Hawks get comfortably ahead. Jeff Teague had a career night offensively for the Hawks and really lit it up. Philadelphia played well in the final quarter but it wasn't enough as they lost 113-103, falling back to .500 at 5-5.
Evan Turner once again led the 76ers with 27 points as his offense has been greatly improved through this season's first ten games. However, Turner had an awful 7 turnovers (of Philadelphia's 16), and although he is shooting much better, he continues to give the ball up (3.2 per game). Thad Young's up-and-down season continued, this game contributing 17 points, 7 rebounds and 2 steals. Coming off a huge game against Houston, James Anderson only hit 1 shot, but had 2 steals and 2 blocks. Hawes recorded another double-double with 14 points and 12 boards. Starting in MCW's place again, Wroten scored 22 and dished out 6 assists but had a plus/minus of -19 while on the floor. As a team, Philadelphia scored a solid 56 point in the paint.
Teague had a career-high 33 points and added 10 assists. Horford had 20 points and Carroll scored a career-high 21. The Hawks shot 43.5% from beyond the arc while the Sixers struggled hitting only 26.3%.
The Sixers face off against the Pelicans in New Orleans on Saturday. It will be the first time the Sixers play against Jrue Holiday, their former all-star.
