The Phillies called up right-hander Ken Giles to take Adams' spot in the bullpen, giving the organization a chance to get a good look at the most exciting pitching prospect in the Phillies' system.
The young reliever hasn't slowed down since arriving in Lehigh Valley, posting a 2.63 ERA and striking out nine in 13 2/3 innings with the Iron Pigs.
Giles will have big shoes to fill in replacing Adams on the roster, as the veteran right-hander has gone 2-1 with a 2.12 ERA in 19 appearances this season.
Perhaps worse than losing Adams from the roster, however, is the fact that he would appear to be one of the Phillies' biggest trade pieces.
With yet another injury to his name, Adams' value has likely taken a hit.
