Wednesday night at UMass, DeAndre’ Bembry couldn’t be stopped.

The sophomore star would go off for a career-high 33 points to boost Saint Joseph’s to a road win over the Minutemen.

Saturday night was a different story, however, as Bembry managed just six points in Saint Josephs’ 63-57 loss to Richmond.

“I just wasn’t knocking down shots that I normally knock down,” Bembry said.

Temple returned home to the Liacouras Center Thursday night amidst a two-game losing streak and with their tournament hopes in question.

The Owls would appear to be feeling some of the lingering effects of that two game road trip in the first half, but would emerge looking much stronger in the second act.

Behind a dominant second half performance all around, the Owls would put an end to their losing streak, defeating Houston 66-54 to get their tournament campaign back on track.

Following an overtime loss to St. Bonaventure on Saturday, DeAndre' Bembry remained in full uniform in the locker room and sat with his head in his hands.

The sophomore had just recorded 15 points, six assists and six rebounds, but the only number that appeared to matter to him was the final score, Bonnies 70, Hawks 60.

With how hard the loss appeared to hit Bembry on Saturday, it came as no surprise that he emerged looking like a man on a mission Wednesday night against UMass.

Bembry would further his case for being named A-10 Player of the Year in the contest, recording a career-high 33 points to go along with 14 rebounds, as Saint Joseph's topped UMass 82-71.

Temple’s NCAA Tournament hopes took another hit Sunday evening.

Following a loss against #21 SMU on Thursday, in which the Owls blew a double-digit second half lead, Fran Dunphy and his Temple squad traveled to Tulsa looking to get back on track and pick up their 20th win of the season.

The Owls would do just the opposite, however, going ice cold from the field on their way to a 55-39 loss to the Golden Hurricane.

Everybody has their weaknesses.

For Superman it’s kryptonite. Ace Ventura was afraid of bats. Saint Joseph’s can’t shoot free throws.

On Saturday night, Saint Joseph’s fell victim to their weakness yet again.

In a back-and-forth game, the Hawks would go just 8-for-17 from the charity stripe on their way to a 70-60 overtime loss to St. Bonaventure.

“When you now go 7-for-14 and 8-for-17 [from the free throw line the last two games], that’s not concerning, that’s just flat out embarrassing,” Saint Joseph’s Coach Phil Martelli said.

Temple traveled to Dallas, Texas on Thursday night looking to avenge an earlier season loss against #21 SMU.

This time, Temple would have a healthy Will Cummings at the helm as they looked to pull the upset over former Sixers Coach Larry Brown and his Mustangs.

It would be an all too familiar feeling in the end for the Owls, however, as they saw a double-digit second half lead slip away again in a 67-58 loss to the Mustangs.

Saint Joseph’s gave Dayton all they could handle Thursday night in their visit to Ohio.

DeAndre’ Bembry and Isaiah Miles would each record 23 points for the Hawks, as Saint Joseph’s took the Flyers down to the wire.

In the end, however, free throw shooting, an all to familiar foe for Saint Joseph’s, would get the best of the Hawks yet again.

With just 27 seconds remaining, Bembry would find himself at the free throw line for a one-and-one with an opportunity to tie the game. Bembry would make the front end of the one-and-one, but would miss the second, as the Hawks’ opportunity at an upset slipped away in a 68-64 loss to Dayton.
