One night after breaking their longest losing streak of the season, the Phillies got right back to their losing ways. The hitting and pitching from last night both disappeared and the Phillies fell to the Giants 9 to 2.

Tonight, we get our first real glimpse of the future of third base for the Phillies. Cody Asche, a top Phillies prospect, will make his first start, batting sixth and playing third base.
The Phillies topped the Giants by a score of 7 to 3 tonight to snap a season high eight-game losing streak. In a shocking turn of events, the offense actually showed up tonight to back up some solid pitching.
![]() Donovan McNabb has officially hung up his uniform and called it quits as a Philadelphia Eagle, following the signing of his one-day contract with the team yesterday. I grew up with this man as my quarterback and couldn’t be happier that he chose to retire as an Eagle. He certainly received his fair share of flak from us during his tenure with the team, but I think we can all agree that his time with the Eagles was a fun time for all of us. He may have never won the big one but he captained many deep playoff runs and was the face of the franchise for many years. I think he is easily one of the greatest Eagles of all time and am ecstatic that he came back home to retire. The Tigers completed their sweep of the Phillies in embarrassing fashion this afternoon. The Phillies have now lost eight straight games since scoring 13 against the Mets on July 19, all but sealing their fate as sellers in the next few days. Things started off just fine for the Phillies, but then the wheels fell off on the way to a 12 to 4 loss.
Lets be honest, we all saw this one coming. With Cliff Lee scratched, Raul Valdes got the start for the Phillies and this loss was written in stone before the game started.
Just a few days into training camp and the Eagles are already down a star player. Wide receiver Jeremy Maclin, who led the team in receiving yards during the miserable season that just passed, was injured during a 7-on-7 drill. The Phillies may be losing on the field currently, but they did win something last night. The Phillies won the competition to sign Cuban right-hander Miguel Alfredo Gonzalez. Gonzalez is a big international signing for the club and could pay dividends in the future, as other Cuban defectors like Aroldis Chapman, Yoenis Cespedes and Yasiel Puig have for their respective clubs.
The Phillies dropped their sixth consecutive game tonight as they still have yet to have their bats shipped to them on this road trip. The offense was embarrassed yet again, managing only one run on four, yes, four total hits.
