The saying "The squeaky wheel gets the grease," is a perfect fit to describe this NBA season. Only problem is that way too many teams are squeaking. Granted, there is a lot of grease (talent) in college basketball right now, but unless you squeak the loudest, you might be out of luck until the next run to the nearest Lowe's or Home Depot for more WD-40.
![]() The division crown and a playoff berth were on the line as the Eagles visited the Cowboys in the final game of the regular season. Dallas entered the final week with a playoff berth on the line for the third year in a row, and for the third year in a row they fell short, as the Eagles sealed the game on a late interception to win 24-22. The 76ers (8-21) continued their west coast tour, stopping in LA to play the Lakers (13-17) Sunday night. While most of our readers were watching the Eagles clinch the NFC East and a spot in the playoffs, the Sixers would finally end their road-losing streak at 13. In a matchup between to of the worst defenses in the NBA, the 76ers would win 111-104.
This one hurt for Penn. Up 13 with a little under 7 minutes left, Penn let the game slip away from them, costing them a much-needed win. The Quakers have now dropped 5 in a row and have not won at all during the month of December. Ultimately the out-of-conference play does not matter, but it would be good for Penn to go into Ivy League play with a morale boost.
A week after a strong outing in which the Dragons defeated the Saint Francis Red Flash, they failed to keep a winning streak going as the Dragons lost to the Buffalo Bulls 55-52. Forward Javon McCrea led the way for the Bulls, scoring 20 of the team's 55 points. It was a big win for Buffalo first year head coach, former Duke Blue Devil Bobby Hurley, as the Bulls improve to 6-4 on the season. Fro Drexel, the scoring was led by Sophomore guard Tavon Allen, who finished with 14 points.
The 76ers returned to action in Phoenix on Saturday for their first game in a week. Before the start of the season, both the Sixers and Suns were predicted to finish at the bottom of their respective conferences but that hasn't been true for one of those teams... and its not the Sixers. The Suns (17-11) have been surprisingly competitive and would prove to be too much for Philly in this contest, as the Sixers lose their 13th in a row on the road.
The 7-5 Boston University Terriers visit Hagan Arena Sunday afternoon, as they square off with the 6-4 Saint Joseph’s Hawks. The Hawks come in flying high after cruising to victory in their past two contests, while the Terriers have struggled as of late, dropping three of their past four, including two overtime losses.
Villanova visited Syracuse at the Carrier Dome this afternoon in a clash between two unbeaten squads. After dominating in the opening minutes, the Wildcats cooled off as the Orange defense began to bare down. Dominating the final 30 minutes of play, Syracuse was able to walk away with a 78-62 win.
