Asche, a fourth round draft pick in 2011, has quickly climbed through the system. After a slow start in Williamsport during his first year of pro-ball, Asche burst out in 2012, covering two levels. After getting a short look at Asche in Spring Training, he was sent to Lehigh Valley to continue his development, and he did just that. In 104 games at AAA, Asche hit .295 with fifteen home runs and 68 RBI's, earning his shot with the big club.
Asche will make his first start tonight and with it should usher in a the next era of Phillies third basemen. Look for Asche to contribute in the near future, as he is a very promising 23 year-old. We wish him well, as he is the Broad Street Beat's favorite young Phillies player. Go get em Cody!
