The Phillies' offense would do more than enough to back Williams on Saturday night.
Marlon Byrd led off the fifth inning with his 25th home run of the season to break a scoreless tie. The sixth inning would be where the Phillies would really do their damage, however, scoring five runs to extend their lead and seemingly put the game out of reach.
The Mets would respond with two runs in the seventh, but would get no closer, as the Phillies added one more run in the ninth to win 7-2.
