The Sixers have officially hired Spurs assistant coach Brett Brown as their next coach, holding his introductory press conference on Wednesday. Brown will be charged with leading the Sixers rebuilding efforts under new GM Sam Hinkie's guidance. Brown will inherit a young roster that went through massive a transformation on draft night.
"We went through an exhaustive search to find the right head coach for our organization - one who had a passion for developing talent, a strong work-ethic to help create the kind of culture we hope for, and a desire to continually improve," said new GM Sam Hinkie in a team press release. "Brett has all of that. He also has a wealth of experience as a head coach and a championship pedigree, to boot."
Gregg Popovoch, head coach of the Spurs, spoke highly of Brown, saying, "The San Antonio Spurs have been very fortunate to have the services of Brett Brown for over a decade. His creativity, teaching ability and work ethic are unmatched."
While he comes to Philadelphia highly regarded, Look for Brown to have a rough first season as the Sixers are all but certain to be bottom feeders this year.
