The Phillies would not need a comeback or extra innings on Saturday afternoon, however, as they rode a dominant A.J. Burnett to a 3-1 win to take their fifth straight game against the Nationals.
The Nationals would do their only offensive damage of the game in the fifth, scoring a run on an Anthony Rendon sacrifice fly, but the Phillies would take that run right back on a Domonic Brown home run in the sixth.
Burnett would last seven innings in all, allowing just one run on six hits before turning things over to the bullpen in the Phillies' 3-1 win.
