The Chip Kelly era officially came to an end on Tuesday night when the team released him and Ed Marynowitz, vice president of player personnel.

Offensive Coordinator Pat Shurmur will take over coaching duties for the Eagles' final game on Sunday against the Giants.

"I spent the last three seasons evaluating the many factors involved in our performance as a team," Eagles Chairman and CEO Jeffrey Lurie said in a letter to fans. "As I watched this season unfold, I determined that it was time to make a change."

The Eagles put together an all around terrible effort on Sunday afternoon against the Redskins at FedEx Field. Despite horrible play on both sides of the ball, the Eagles still found themselves with an opportunity to with the game.

A late touchdown drive by the Redskins would propel them past the Eagles 23-20, dropping the Eagles to just 1-3 on the season.

Desperate for a win after starting the season 0-2 and having looked just terrible in the process, the Eagles escaped #Popeapalooza this weekend and headed to MetLife Stadium for a matchup with the Jets. The Birds looked like a different team in the first half, taking a 24-7 lead to the locker room at the half and holding on in the second half for a 24-17 win over the Jets.
