Chip Kelly Rumors Put To Rest, Will Get Promotion

You can finally rest easy, Philadephia.  For those of you that did not hear about the rumors swirling around this holiday week, Chip Kelly was apparently disagreeing with upper management on the direction of the team.  But now those rumors have been put to rest with Kelly's promotion.  

It all started with some poorly sourced journalism (see below), but has been put to rest pretty quickly.

Plugged-in league source senses there could be "something big" going on in Philly in the aftermath of Tom Gamble's departure.

If so, the question becomes whether Kelly will accept that outcome.  A plugged-in league source senses based on the current dynamics in the front office that “something big” could be happening.  So what could that something big be?

No one knows at this point.

Kelly will now oversee the player personnel department, and will also begin to lead efforts to find a new personnel executive, starting immediately.  Kelly, 20-12 in his first two seasons with the team,  wanted more influence within the organization about who the Eagles add to their roster.

Howie Roseman also received a promotion, and will now take on the role of Executive Vice President of Football Operations, which means he will direct contract negotiations, manage salary, and oversee the team's medical and equipment staff.
