Dragons Hold On To Defeat Pride

Wednesday night's 77-74 win over Hofstra was monumental for the Dragons in getting back to the top of the CAA standings.  2-4 in the CAA and a 10-9 record overall, it was important that the Dragons win and avoid going into panic mode.  Hofstra may not be one of the better teams in the country, but they aren't exactly a cupcake either. 

Once again, Frantz Massenat came up big and dropped a career high 32 points and finished one assist shy of a triple double.  As a senior and one of the team's leaders, Massenat knew the importance of getting a win last night.  Not only did he fill up the stat sheet with his scoring and passing, he also played all 40 minutes in the game.  Chris Fouch also played well, scoring 19 points on 7-19 shooting. 

The Pride had three players play all forty minutes, including guard Zeke Upshaw, who scored a team high 27 points.  In a matchup between senior scoring guards, Massenat was able to best Upshaw on the stat sheet and in the standings.  This win moves Drexel to11-9 overall and  3-4 in the CAA, which puts them 5th in the conference.  With Delaware sitting at 7-0 at the top of the conference, and with Towson and William & Mary out in front, the Dragons still have a lot of work to do.  But if Massenat plays like last night in every game going forward, it should be a little easier for the Dragons to catch up.
