Eagles Player Profiles: LeSean McCoy

Even in today's pass-happy NFL, it still doesn't hurt to have the league's best running back (but don't mention that to Adrian Peterson) on your squad.  LeSean McCoy had a brilliant 2013 NFL season, one which saw him pass the 5,000 career rushing yards milestone and lead the league in total rushing yards.  In fact, McCoy's 2013 season was so good that the NFL's second leading rusher, Matt Forte, still finished over 250 rushing yards behind Shady on the year.
McCoy was reliable in 2013, starting in all 16 games and averaging just north of 100 rushing yards per game.  However, Shady is more than just a running threat.  LeSean also caught 52 passes for 539 yards and 2 touchdowns on the season as well, making him a legitimate dual threat back.  Teaming up with Sproles, another dual threat back, will only make it tougher on opposing defenses to find an answer to the Eagles' attack.

Shady is an incredibly important piece for the Eagles in 2014, just as he has been the last five seasons.  McCoy is also an active man in the community and can be spotted by us normal civilians on a pretty normal basis.  Ask any Tom, Dick, or Harry and they will have a story about how they saw him in a public setting.  Ask any Kyle, Ben, Matt or Dan, and they will tell you about how they had a conversation with him at KOP, or how they saw him playing hoops at their gym recently, or even the time when Ben had to carry his crutches for him when they went to high school together.  McCoy is a Pennsylvanian through and through.

On the field in 2014, expect much of the same from Shady.  The offense is at it's most dynamic when McCoy is playing well, and the Eagles will get him the pigskin as often as they can.  I'm expecting something close to 1,400 yards rushing and about 10 rushing touchdowns this season, as well as
further involvement in the passing game.  With McCoy and Sproles united in the backfield, the 2014 Eagles offense can be it's most dangerous yet.
