“We have talked about it and there are some rules with the NFL that provides some restrictions that we’re trying to work through, but that’s going to take some time,” Smolenski told WIP Morning Show. “It’s there, and it’s something that we do talk about, but until some things change at the NFL level it’s going to provide restrictions for us.”
This time the news comes from the organization and not a cleverly misspelled Twitter handle.
But what exactly is stopping the Eagles from making the change?
Quite a few things apparently.
One, a team is only allowed to switch its jersey design every five years.
According to Les Bowen of the Daily News, the league also has a rule saying the team would have to use the same helmet even if they added the Kelly green uniform as an alternate.
I'm no style consultant, but I'm going to say that the current midnight green helmet would look absolutely horrific with the Kelly green uniforms.
So Eagles fans, don't get your hopes up. It seems a return to the Kelly green uniforms won't be happening all that soon.
