Eagles Shutout Giants, Improve To 5-1

Everything went right for the Eagles last night; Shady was picking up large gains on the ground, Foles found his receivers early and often, the offensive line pushed the Giants' pass rushers around, and the defense didn't allow a single point.  It was the complete opposite for the G-Men, as Eli was sacked six times on the night and they had no answer for the Eagles' aerial attack.
Coming into the game, there was a ton of trash talk from both sides, as per usual between NFC East rivals and their fanbases.  But when it came time to play, the Eagles were the only ones who brought it.  McCoy and Sproles were aggressive on the ground, and Peters contained JPP all night.  The two backs combined for 188 yards and a touchdown on 29 carries.  Foles did pretty well himself.  Although he threw two interceptions, he had a QBR of 79.0 and threw for 248 yards and two scores.

But the real MVP on offense was Jason Peters.  I mentioned in my preview that the Eagles needed to have a good game from Peters and the offensive line in order to win.  The Giants' defense heavily relies on the pass rush, but it was non-existent last night because of the stellar performance on the line.  Getting Mathis and Kelce back will only strengthen that unit.

The defense last night, what a thing of beauty.  Here are the list of teams who have gotten shutout this season: the New York Jets Week 5 vs. the Chargers, and the Giants last night.  Even the Raiders, Jaguars, and Buccaneers have managed to score in every game this season.  The only realistic chance the Giants had at scoring was the fourth and goal play that ended up with a torn patella for Victor Cruz.  Demeco Ryans really stood out to me last night.  He took command out there and read the Giants' offense like a book.  Connor Barwin had an incredible night as well, finishing with three sacks in the game.  That game brought Barwin into a three way tie for third place in sacks, with 6 on the season.

The Eagles go into the bye week sitting at 5-1 and in a tie for first in the division with Dallas.  The Cowboys are taking on the Giants at home next week, so the tie will be broken by this time next week.  But as long as the Eagles keep up this level of play, the division title will be won in no time.
