Eagles Spoil Jackson's Return, Off To A 3-0 Start

There was no build up needed for this game, as Eagles and Redskins fans have had this game circled on their calendars since the schedule out months ago.  Desean Jackson had a good game himself, but it wasn't enough to silence the Philadelphia crowd.  Eagles fans were on him from the get go, and didn't relent until the final whistle.
But enough about Desean's return.  The game was way more exciting than the return of a former player.  The Eagles won by a final score of 37-34 and it was a barn burner throughout.  The Redskins got things started with a Darrel Young TD reception from new starting QB Kirk Cousins, but the score was quickly matched by the Eagles on a 102-yard kickoff return for a touchdown from running back Chris Polk.  Pierre Garcon was next to score and a Kai Forbath field goal shortly after made it 17-7 Redskins early on.

However, Jordan Matthews decided on making the second quarter his coming out party, catching two touchdown passes from Foles in the quarter and helping to bring the score to 21-20 in favor of the Birds at halftime.   Matthews finished with 59 yards and 2 touchdowns on 8 receptions in total.

The third quarter was slow for the most part, with the Eagles scoring twice on Cody Parkey field goals.  But then Desean was able to silence the Philly crowd for a moment with an 81-yard touchdown reception.

The fourth quarter was a completely different animal, with some clutch scoring drives and even a bench clearing brawl.  Early in the fourth quarter, Nick Foles threw a pass that looked like an interception at first glance, but replay showed the ball hit the ground and remained Eagles' ball.  On the return that didn't count, Foles was blindsided on a block by Redskins' resident douche Chris Baker.  In a moment that made Philadelphians proud, Jason Peters took offense to the hit and went right after Baker on the bench, which led to a bench clearing brawl and an ejection from both Baker and Peters.  Obviously losing one of the best offensive linemen in the game is worse than losing some random defensive lineman, the Eagles were able to regroup and find Maclin for a touchdown on the drive.

A Cody Parkey field goal, a Rou Helu touchdown, and a last minute defensive stand later, and the Eagles came away with the 37-34 victory, improving them to 3-0 on the season.  Injuries were a scare for the Eagles this game; Jason Kelce left the game with an abdomen injury and his status is still unknown at the time of this article.  The offensive line is injury riddled as it is.  Losing Kelce for an extended period of time can hurt the Eagles.  McCoy left the game briefly early on with a possible concussion, but was fine and came back to the game pretty quickly.  Having a healthy team is what makes or breaks championship seasons.  The Eagles need to find some luck and quickly so their offensive line can stay in there the rest of the season.
