It was a wild one down in Richmond, which saw La Salle and VCU go head to head for 50 minutes of game play. In the end, however, it was the Explorers who emerged victorious, by the final score of 74-69. Jordan Price, who hit the game tying three pointer in regulation, finished with a game high 34 points. It is also a new career high for the transfer from Auburn. JeQuan Lewis led the Rams in scoring with 26 points.
Trying to secure a win against a top 25 team is difficult enough, but on the road in a raucous environment only adds to the pressure. The Explorers were able to hang in there all game and pulled away in double overtime. Price led the way and set a career high, but Cleon Roberts and Jerrell Wright added some help on the offensive end, with each scoring 12 points. Steve Zack fouled out in double overtime, but was able to add 7 points and secure 12 rebounds before doing so.
The win brings La Salle to 14-10 on the season, and 6-5 in Atlantic 10 play. The Explorers would be sitting at the 7th seed if the A-10 tournament started today, and would be slated to square off against either Saint Joseph's or Richmond, both of whom the Explorers defeated earlier this year. With just 7 games left in regular season play, every game matters in determining their A-10 Tournament seeding.
